With $3.2 trillion currencies’ trading daily, the FX market is the largest and most liquid financial market in the world. FX is now the world's most-traded asset, attracting new players all the time. A market is open for trading at all hours, day and night, facilitating exchange of one currency for another between large banks, central banks, hedge funds asset managers, currency speculators, retail traders (individuals), multinational corporations, and governments.
This course aims to give an insight into the fast-paced global foreign exchange market. We begin with the basics of the foreign exchange (FX) market concepts such as FX trading terminology, exchange rates and the exchange rate systems. Participants will also gain an insight into the structures of spot FX transactions and forward FX markets instruments. Finally, we will discuss the foreign exchange risk arising from a financial institution FX trading activities.
